Cake or Presents First?

The baby who really isn't a baby anymore celebrated his 3rd birthday recently. Since it was his special day we showered the little guy with lots of love and attention...like he needs anymore! :) He received a package in the post from Utah and immediately started tearing open the box. Mind you, this was the day before his birthday! He was so excited that we let him go ahead and open it.

It was worth it to see his face light up when he saw Lightening McQueen. Cool, man! Thank you, Grandma & Grandpa!

We invited Nana & Papa down for the birthday fun. As soon as they walked in the door with a huge birthday present it was all over. Another present unwrapping session commenced. Good times! Thanks Nana & Papa!

We went to the zoo where we saw several of the local favorites: Mr. Elephant and Mufasa, the oldest lion on the planet. The swinging monkeys and muddy rhinos were also out playing.

After the zoo and two shirts later we had a birthday dinner and then opened the rest of the presents. Yay!

Most people probably do cake & then presents but I've found with my very impatient kids that presents go over better first especially with all of the cake-y mess. They open presents, play to their little heart's content and then we do cake or in this case, Thomas the Tank Engine cupcakes.

Why is it that every kid loves to lick the cake & frosting off their candles? :) Here's to another year of alexaliciousness!
Happy Birthday!

Those are cute pictures. I liked the one of Dad and Alex at the zoo. Your baby is definitely not a baby anymore. He's a cute little guy.
