Too much tv

i watched northanger abbey on sunday in a flu-ridden stupor. it was better than persuasion, i think. the screenplay was written by andrew davies. he's the gent that wrote the uncomparable a&e version of pride & prejudice. unfortunately, i can't fail but to comment on the kissing in the adaptations. it's atrocious. apparently pbs believes that people in jane austen's england did not know how to kiss. it's been a parade of awkward first kisses. i hope the kissing improves. oh my, i sound like i'm obsessed with kissing. i just can't stand a romance with bad kissing. please, no more! i liked this "review" of it and have to agree, the bonnets were the bomb.
being sick, i've been watching an unimaginable amount of tv. tlc has a reality show on right now with the miss america contestants. apparently miss america is outdated & need to be modernized. according to the judges, a us weekly editor, celebrity photograper & stylist to the stars. that means sexy new makeovers, being taught how to walk down a catwalk like a high fashion model, & engaging in competitions like redoing a plain black dress into something spectacular. i'm loving miss utah, she's 24, a tomboy, fresh out of the military, spunky & real. the judges don't like her because they told her to "glam" it up & she, trying to make a joke, overdid it. some people can't take a joke. they were so offended. go miss utah!
i do not usually watch the spike network because it's for men. only men can watch it. do not get the wrong idea. it's mostly sports & rambo-esque movies. however they have a show on that i am really digging. it's called pros vs. joes. normal "joes", mostly super-egotistical ex-jocks longing for their glory days, compete against ex-pro athletes in the athletes pro sport. imagine shooting hoops with tom chambers or spud webb, throwing a football with randall cunningham or jerry rice, catching hits off of wade boggs or will clark. sweet. the trash talking is hilarious. i likey!
finally, i've been catching up on all of my friday night lights episodes. more football. in texas. you know what football means in texas. go dillon panthers!
